Copying Layouts in Clash of Clans

Copying a layout in Clash of Clans allows you to replicate another player’s village setup, which can be very helpful if you’ve found a design that seems effective for defense or resource management. To copy a layout, follow these step-by-step instructions:

Step 1: Find a Village to Copy

Start by scouting for a village layout that you would like to copy. This could be from a clanmate, within your friend list, or from any player you encounter while raiding if they have made their base viewable via their profile.

Step 2: Visit the Desired Village

Once you’ve found a layout, visit the player’s village. You can do this by clicking on their profile and then clicking on the ‘Visit’ button. If the layout is from a clanmate, you can visit their village directly from the clan chat by tapping on their name and selecting ‘Visit’.

Step 3: Copy the Layout

When you’re in the village you want to copy, look for the ‘Copy Layout’ button. This button only appears if the player has allowed their base to be copied and it would be near the village editor or a similar interface in the game.

Step 4: Choose the Layout Type

After clicking ‘Copy Layout’, decide whether you want the layout for your active ‘Home Village’ or ‘Builder Base’, considering the layout you are copying is suitable for one of these bases. Select the appropriate option.

Step 5: Select an Empty Layout Slot

Choose an empty slot where you wish to save the copied layout. If all slots are filled, you may need to overwrite an existing layout or clear a slot first.

Step 6: Save the Layout

After selecting the empty slot, the layout will be imported into it. You can then make any modifications to the layout if you wish. Save the layout once you’re done with the adjustments.

Step 7: Activate the Copied Layout

Finally, if you want to make the new layout your active village, go to your village editor and activate the new layout. You will typically have to click ‘Set Active’ on the chosen layout for it to become your defense in your Home or Builder Base.

Important Notes

Keep in mind the following points when copying a layout:

  • You can only copy a base if the owner has enabled the ‘Allow my layout to be copied’ setting in their game.
  • The layouts of war bases cannot be copied directly during active wars.
  • If the base you’re copying has higher-level buildings or walls than you have unlocked, those elements will not be copied over.
  • Copying a layout does not copy the traps if they are not visible due to not being revealed during defense or scouting.

By following these steps, you can effectively copy and employ village layouts from other players to possibly improve your own Clash of Clans strategy.
